The ecological traits and relationships of these traits with wood anatomy of Quercus pontica C. Koch were examined. Despite some minor differences in wood anatomy Q. pontica is entirely within the range of wood anatomical variation of Quercus. For instance, Q. pontica has ring porous or semi-ring porous xylem anatomy like other oaks. There were no striking differences between the diameter of earlywood and latewood vessels and relatively low number of multiseriate rays were observed as compared to the other oak species in Q. pontica and the other prominent feature is multiseriate rays were not so wide and so long as compared to the other oak species. In addition to this, significant differences were found between full-leaf expansion and senescence in terms of N and P concentrations. Despite some differences proportional and absolute resorption were usually within the ranges reported for the other deciduous species.en_US
