The product operator theory is widely used for analytical description of multi-pulse Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) experiments for weakly coupled spin systems. Two-dimensional liquid-state NMR experiments including edited-pulse angles such as DEPT-HMQC, MAXY-HMQC allow enhancing more information than conventional ones for weakly coupled spin systems in complex molecules. In this study, analytical descriptions of 2D MAXY-HMQC NMR experiment are performed using product operator theory for weekly coupled ISn (I = 1/2,S = 1; n = 1,2,3) spin systems. By using these results, theoretical discussions and experimental suggestions for sub-spectral editing of CD, CD2, and CD3 groups are presented. (C) 2006 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.en_US
