The susceptibility patterns of total 360 Gram negative microorganisms (Pseudomonas, Enterobacter, E. coli) isolated from urine cultures against betalactam and betalactam/betalactamase inhibitor antibiotics (Ampicillin, amoxicillin, cefoperazone, ampicillin/sulbactam, amoxicillin/clavulonik acid and cefoperazone/sulbactam) were compared by disc diffusion method. The combination of ampicillin, amoxicillin and cefoperazone with betalactamase inhibitors achieved a marked improvement of the antibacterial effect against Enterobacter and E. coli. In this study it was concluded that cefoperazone/sulbactam was the most effective antibiotic against Gram negative microorganisms isolated from urine cultures. Antibiotic susceptibility patterns showed differences between regions and antibiotic usage, policies, therefore regional antibiotic susceptibility patterns should be determined periodically.en_US
