Sepsis
Özet
Sepsis results from the overproduction of inflammatory mediators as a consequence of the interaction of the immune system with microorganisms and their constituents. Although all microorganisms can play a role in etiology of sepsis, gram positive microorganisms are reported frequently in the last period as the causative agents in sepsis. Mortality and morbidity of sepsis are still high. Advances in the understanding of the molecular mechanisms that control clotting and inflammation have led to the successful development in the sepsis therapy. In this review, the pathophysiology of sepsis and the relationship of coagulation to inflammation are discussed.
