Central nervous system tumors (CNS) are the most common solid tumors of childhood in developed countries; they are the third frequent neoplasms after leukemia and lymphoma in our country. We performed a retrospective review of 74 patients (39 boys and 25 girls) with central nervous system tumors, who were followed at the department of Pediatric Oncology of Ondokuz Mayis University. The most frequent symptoms were nausea and vomiting. Infratentorial localization of the tumors was detected in 62.2%. According to histopathological study, astrocytoma and medulloblastoma were the most frequent tumors. Overall survival was 41.1% for all cases.en_US
