John Locke’ta Hoşgörü Anlayışı Bağlamında İnanç Özgürlüğü Problemi ve Din-Devlet İlişkisi

Abstract

Bu makalede, din devlet ilişkisi ve inanç özgürlüğü sorunu liberal siyaset felsefesinin öncü isimlerinden Locke’un görüş ve düşünceleri üzerinden tartışılmaktadır. Din ve devlet arasındaki ilişkilerin ne ve nasıl olması gerektiği ve inanç özgürlüğünün nasıl güvence altına alınabileceği sorunu bugün de siyaset felsefesinin ve biliminin en can alıcı sorunları arasındadır. Locke’un konuya ilişkin çözümlemeleri her ne kadar tarihsel bir bağlama yerleştirilerek, yaşadığı coğrafyanın ve tarihsel kesitin sorunlarına bir çözüm bulma denemesi olarak anlaşılabilse de, bu çözümlemeler tarihsel bağlamından bağımsız olarak da okunabilir ve günümüzün sorunları için de onlardan bir takım çözüm önerileri çıkarılabilir. Bu makalede, söz konusu edilen sorunlar onun hoşgörüyü temel alan değerlendirmeleri üzerinden ele alınacak ve bu değerlendirmelerin felsefî bir çözümlemesi yapılmaya çalışılacaktır.

In this article, the question of relationship between religion and the state and the freedom of belief are discussed through Locke's views and thoughts, one of the leading figures of liberal political philosophy. The question of what and how the relations between religion and the state should be and how to quarantee the freedom of belief is stil one of the most crucial problems of political philosophy and science today. Although Locke's analyses on the subject can be interpreted as an attempt to find a solution to the problems of his living geographical and historical section, by placing it in a historical context; these analyses can be read independently of the historical context and some suggestions can be drawn from them for the problems of today. In this article, the problems in question will be discussed through his evaluations based on tolerance and a philosophical analysis of these evaluations will be made
