(E)-1-{2-Hydroxy-5-[(4-methylphenyl)diazenyl]phenyl}ethanone

Abstract

The structure of the title compound, C15H14N2O2, an azo dye, displays a trans configuration with respect to the N=N bridge. The dihedral angle between the aromatic rings is 5.06 (8)degrees. The molecular conformation is stabilized by a strong intramolecular O-H center dot center dot center dot O hydrogen bond. In the crystal, intermolecular C-H center dot center dot center dot O hydrogen bonds occur.
