Abstract

Group B streptococci are the leading causes of bacterial meningitis and sepsis in neonates, and they rarely cause adult infections. However, in recent years it has been documented that the incidence of adult meningitis due to group B streptococci has been increased. In this report, a 80 years old female patient with romatoid arthritis has been presented. The patient had no history of immunosuppression and the bacteria which isolated from cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and blood cultures were identified as Streptococcus agalactia. The patient was treated with ceftriaxone for 14 days and no complications were detected.
