The changes of auditory event-related potentials in the uremic patients under hemodialysis treatment
Özet
We have searched the cognitive functions of chronic uremic patients under hemodialysis treatment by using event-related potential (P300) recordings. The tests have been applied to he patients before and after hemodialysis reatment. P300 event-related potentials have been recorded according to oddball paradigm by using audiory stimulus. The tests of mini mental status have been applied as a neuropsychologic tests to evaluate cognitive functions. There was a significant correlation between the scores of mini mental status and the latencies of P300 wave both before and after hemodialysis treatment. The prolongations of P300 wave latencies recorded in the period of pretreatment have been turned in the normal values in the period of posttreatment in the most of patients. These data have showed that event-related potential recording was a useful test in the evaluation of cognitive functions of the patients followed by the diagnosis of chronic renal failure.
