Human papilloma virus (HPV) infections
Abstract
The relation between human papilloma virus (HPV) infection and anogenital precancerous and carcerous lesions has been known for many years. This relation has become more obvious with the help of the recent techniques in molecular biology such as polymerase chain reaction and in-situ hybridization. Thus, certain HPV types have been identified and related to vulvar, vaginal, cervical and penile dysplasia and cancer. In this text; etiology, diagnosis and treatment modalities of HPV infection as well as its relation to anogenital dysplastic lesions and cancer are reviewed.
