Abstract

There are lots of studies on delayed wound healing which includes as diabetic foot, pressure sore, venous ulcers. Among these studies the effects of physical power such as electrical stimulation was shown experimentally and clinically, and further studies are going on. Our purpose in this study is to present our experiences on electrical stimulation treatment. In this study three patients was evaluated between november 2008- may 2009. They had defects that occured depend on diabet (2 patients) and trauma (1 patient) on their foot. Bioelectrical stimulation therapy applied two times a day throughout 10 days. Defect sizes were measured daily. Defect sizes were varying from 3.17 cm 2 to 9.38 cm2. In all patients the defects healed secondarily at the end of 10 th day. Increasing collagen matrix construction and epithelialization were shown serious effects on chronic wounds therefore it can be thought electrical stimulation can provide positive effects on wound healing. We think that electrical stimulation therapy must be evaluated by more experimental and clinical researches. © 2010 OMÜ Tüm Haklari Saklidir.
