Abstract

Radiologic imaging methods are ultrasonography is an indispensible technique in the diagnosis and follow-up of thyroid gland in addition to physical examination and laboratory test. Although ultrasonography is a first imaging modality in thyroid gland, doppler sonography, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging and fine needle aspiration biopsy are other ancillary techniques for the diagnosis. Recently, new imaging modalities have been used such as magnetic resonance imaging, perfusion imaging and ultrasound elastography. At that time, although more small lesions have been detected by increased resolution, the differences between malign and benign is a problem at present. In this study, we present the radiologic imaging methods using thyroid gland and their advantages and limitations. © 2012 OMU.
